Serves 5-6
Oil 1/4 cup
Clarified butter 1/4 cup
Onions sliced 2 medium
Ginger garlic paste 1-1/2 tbs
Red chilli powder 1 tbs
Salt 3/4 tbs or to taste
Coriander powder 1/2 tbs
Turmeric powder 1/4 tbs
Water 1/4 cup
Chana daal washed & soaked for overnight 500 gm
Cumin 1 tsp
Green chillis 3-4
Ginger julienned 1 inch piece
In a pan add oil & clarified butter. Then add onions & fry until translucent . Then add ginger garlic paste & fry for about 3-5 mins. Add red chilli powder, salt , turmeric powder & coriander powder. Fry for 2 mins. Then add water. Now on another hand, strain the soaked lentil (daal). Save its water for later use.
Add the lentil ( daal) in pan. Fry for a few mins until well mixed. Then add the strained water in it & cover & let the lentil cook in this water. When it’s fully cooked then add cumin, ginger & green chillis. Cover for 5 mins& then serve with green podina chutney & garam garam chapatis!
